The greatest centre-backs of all time

Ball-playing or old-fashioned, the job is the same: read what has not happened yet. The best ones make a back line look unhurried.

This table fills up as coaches submit their ten centre-backs. Be the first name on it.

Who counts as one

You decide. FootballGPT does not filter the search by position, because position is exactly the thing people argue about: half the best centre-backs in history spent chunks of their career somewhere else, and the records disagree with each other anyway. Search brings the likely names up first and then gets out of the way.

How the points work

Ten points for your number one, nine for your number two, down to one point for your tenth. The table adds those up across every ballot and shows how many ballots each player appears on, so a player everyone rates reads differently from one a smaller group rates first. Your account holds one ballot here and one in every other Hall of Fame, and you can change any of them whenever you like.
